While Kader was on leave Eldred and our young students got stuck in to some much needed maintenance by painting the inside of our buildings.  Later in the week we prepared the Navy trailer to take Donna Mia out of the water as she too needed some tender loving care.  My Fathers House suprised us on Saturday with sweets in addition to food and we offered to take the kitchen staff sailing in the future.

Tuesday 27.9.22

Kader was on leave for 3 days, so Eldred was in charge. The plan was to get some maintenance done on our buildings. Permission from the Navy Sailing Centre Chief was received. The student's arrived by taxi and got stuck in with painting of our main building inside. Simamkele Mtshofeni one of the youngest Izivungu helmsman, he is always so humble and prepared to tackle any task.

Wednesday 28.09.22

Kader and his crew were out fishing with Marlon, Ashwin and 3 Izivungu students as they were on school holidays. They dropped off some nice fresh fish at Izivungu on their way home from Miller's Point where they launched.  The students were joyfully doing the last of the painting at the time.

Thursday 29.09.22

Eldred and the students prepared the Navy trailer in order to take Donna Mia out of the water. The wood where the bottom of the boat rests on was slightly cracked and needed replacing. The Navy Sailing Centre staff were happy to lend a helping hand.

Friday 30.09.22

Kader was back at work, the pick-up was early as students were on school holidays and there were loads of new faces wishing to be recruited to our sailing school. The weather was perfect for a day on the water, five bosun dinghies were rigged up we practised and some capsize drills as the weather was perfect for it.

Saturday 1.10.22

After our collection of food from My Father's House in Simonstown, they surprised us with nice sweets for the students too. The kitchen staff are very friendly and took up the offer to come sailing at our school one of the days. There are approximately 10 staff running the My Father's House kitchen on a daily basis. We did a lesson of Instructor Training for the day where students help out the younger crew with learning how to helm the boats themselves. We are looking forward to the new week coming with our holiday program and league racing.
